Una teoría de servicios y algunas implicaciones
Si el bienestar económico, el crecimiento y el cambio estructural son adecuadamente delineados, existe la necesidad de precisar, por una parte, las medidas y definiciones globales del producto y las partes que lo componen, y por otra, las correspondientes actividades generadoras del producto y el empleo que involucran. Además, ya que el producto consiste en bienes y servicios, y que las actividades son divididas correspondientemente, necesitamos una teoría no sólo sobre producto y actividades en general, sino también, sobre los respectivos bienes y servicios. Desafortunadamente, la teoría económica ortodoxa está, en gran parte, basada en la noción de “bienes”. Los servicios han sido dejados de lado, en parte, debido a que la escuela clásica pensó que eran improductivos, o en parte, porque de acuerdo con otros especialistas ellos no son diferentes de los bienes y, por lo tanto, no requieren un tratamiento especial.
