Uncertainty and the Natural Environment : Implications for Strategic Management

A changing global landscape calls on us to consider the management of organizations in a new manner, as the theme of the 2010 Eastern Academy of Management conference indicates. Uncertainty arising from the natural environment is a daunting challenge presented by this shifting landscape. This paper explores the concept of uncertainty in the context of the foundational works of strategic management, examines how research on organizations and the natural environment has built upon these works, and suggests opportunities for future research
