This paper discusses the need and the different models of university-industry relationships. Mutual benefits and challenges of these alliances and how this kind of technology transfer eventually leads to economic growth through commercialization of innovative products. The major purpose of this paper is to inform a broad audience about the nature and scope of this kind of technology transfer and to promote better understanding of these relationships
