Vergangene Paradigmen - Wirtschaftskrise und Verteilungskonflikte
Es ist eine "Schwellenzeit". Es gibt hinreichende Indizien dafür, dass das Erbe der Moderne weiterentwickelt wird, dass aber das 21. Jahrhundert (die Postmoderne oder der Spätkapitalismus) sich in so vielen Gegebenheiten vom Industrialismus des 20. Jahrhunderts unterscheiden, dass es sinnvoll ist, von einer neuen Epoche zu sprechen. Brüche dieser Art haben es an sich, dass man keine üblichen Extrapolationen vornehmen kann. Brüche bringen etwas Neues, und über das Neue können wir nichts wissen, denn sonst wäre es nicht neu. Es gibt allerdings einige Trends, hinsichtlich derer es wenig plausibel ist, dass Gegentendenzen oder Rückschläge auftreten. Damit gehen bestimmte Verhältnisse zu Ende, nicht mit einem Paukenschlag, sondern in einem langsamen Prozess. Die wirklichen Neuheiten werden erst die kommenden Generationen erleben, und darüber lässt sich wenig sagen. Allerdings steckt auch in diesem Zeitablauf ein Verteilungsproblem: Eine Verpflichtung der gegenwärtig bestimmenden Generation wäre es jedenfalls, die Ausgangs- und Gestaltungschancen dieser kommenden Generationen nicht auf unzulässige Weise zu vermindern.
