Visible light-operated glucose-O<SMALL>2</SMALL> biofuel cell
Visible light-operated glucose-O<SMALL>2</SMALL> biofuel cell consisting of chlorin-e<SMALL>6</SMALL> metal complexes (MChl–e<SMALL>6</SMALL>, M = H<SMALL>2</SMALL> and Zn) adsorbed on TiO<SMALL>2</SMALL> coated onto Optical Transparent conductive glass Electrode (OTE) as an anode, platinum electrode as a cathode, and the solution containing glucose, Glucose Dehydrogenase and NAD<SMALL>+</SMALL> as a fuel is studied. The cells using H<SMALL>2</SMALL>Chl-e<SMALL>6</SMALL> and Zn Chl-e<SMALL>6</SMALL> adsorbed on TiO<SMALL>2</SMALL> coated OTEs are defined as Biofuel Cell<SMALL>H2</SMALL> and Biofuel Cell<SMALL>Zn</SMALL>. The closed-circuit photocurrent in Biofuel Cell<SMALL>H2</SMALL> and Biofuel Cell<SMALL>Zn</SMALL> are 0.067 ± 0.003 and 0.017 ± 0.007 mA cm<SMALL>−2</SMALL>, and the open-circuit photo voltages are 503 ± 10 and 559 ± 12 mV, respectively.
