Von den Diagnosen der Moderne zu deren Überbietung: Die Postsäkularisierungsthese von Jürgen Habermas und der gemäßigtePostmodernismus bei Niklas Luhmann
Mit Jürgen Habermas‘ Postsäkularisierungsthese und Niklas Luhmanns gemäßigtemPostmodernismus werden in diesem Aufsatz zwei Sichtweisen einer über sich selbsthinauswachsenden Moderne dargestellt. Der gemeinsame Ursprung beider Theoremewird in der systemtheoretischen Weiterentwicklung von Max Weber gesehen. Eine weitereentscheidende Gemeinsamkeit besteht darin, dass sowohl Luhmann als auch Habermassich von einigen Aspekten der klassischen Modernisierungsdiagnose verabschiedenund über diese hinauszuweisen beginnen – das allerdings auf unterschiedlicheWeise. Während Habermas‘ These von der postsäkularen Gesellschaft einen verändertenUmgang von Staat und Zivilgesellschaft mit religiösen Forderungen verlangt, findetbei Luhmann letztlich eine Wendung zu einer reflexiv-postmodernen Sichtweise statt.
