Ways of Regulating Migration Processes in the Russian Federation
It is generally known that our nation is currently experiencing a profound demographic crisis, owing to the increased mortality rate and decline in the birth rate. Only migration, which replenishes the natural losses of the population, can act as an alternative to this process. Russia is currently at a crossroads, the old policy of population distribution has become outmoded, but a new market-based one has not yet taken on visible outlines. As a result, the migrational aspirations of the population cannot be clarified. Forced migration has unfortunately become a typical phenomenon of contemporary Russia. The break-up of the USSR worsened the economic and domestic political climate in the former union republics. The lack of protections for the basic rights and guarantees of citizens has opened up the possibility of discrimination against individuals of nonindigenous origin.
