What the Healthcare Industry Does Not Want CEOs to Know about Medicare for All

CEOs in non-healthcare industries are silent in the healthcare debate, yet the cost for employee’s healthcare is, on average, 7.6% of a company’s operating budget. In international markets U.S. companies biggest competitors are countries having something similar to a Medicare-for-All (MCA) system. This frees competitors from the healthcare cost of their employees allowing products and services at a lower cost. If united CEOs in the non-healthcare business are one of the few groups having the resources to compete with the campaign contributions and lobbying spending of the healthcare industries. They also have the credibility to influence the President and the U.S. congress. I present three successful strategies used by politicians, conservative journalists, and leaders in the healthcare industry (i.e., pharmaceuticals, insurances, hospitals, AMA, and nursing homes) to promote the role of private healthcare and to reject a MCA system. These strategies have blinded CEOs (in non-healthcare industries) from recognizing the cost the current healthcare system has on their competing in international markets
