Wissen schafft Wachstum: Wirtschaftspolitische Handlungsoptionen für Innovation und Fortschritt
Forschungs- und wissensintensive Wirtschaftszweige tragen zunehmend zu Wertschöpfung und Beschäftigung bei. Unterschiede im Wirtschaftswachstum zwischen Industrieländern erklären sich fast vollständig durch technischen Fortschritt. Gerade für ein rohstoffarmes Land wie Deutschland ist die langfristige Wettbewerbsfähigkeit in Bereich von Forschung und Entwicklung daher von großer Bedeutung. Der globale Wettbewerb um Innovationen hat sich in den letzten Jahren jedoch erheblich verschärft und Innovationsprozesse haben sich beschleunigt. Die Gefahr, den Anschluss unaufholbar zu verlieren, ist damit deutlich gestiegen.
