Zukunftsmarkt Biokunststoffe : Fallstudie im Auftrag des Umweltbundesamtes im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes Innovative Umweltpolitik in wichtigen Handlungsfeldern
Biokunststoffe basieren auf nachwachsenden Rohstoffen, wie z. B. Stärke, Celluloseoder Milchsäure. Ihr Einsatz wird als ein Beitrag zur Vermeidung von negativen Umwelteffektenkonventioneller Kunststoffe, zur Verringerung des Ölverbrauchs sowie zurSteigerung des Einsatzes landwirtschaftlich erzeugter Rohstoffe gesehen. Einige derneu entwickelten Materialien, insbesondere die biotechnologisch erzeugten Polylactidebesitzen Eigenschaften, wie z. B. Wasserdampfdurchlässigkeit, gute Bedruckbarkeitsowie antistatisches Verhalten, die konventionellen Kunststoffen gegenüber im Vorteilsind.
