Zur Prognose von konjunkturellen Wendepunkten: Dreimal-Regel versus Markov-Switching
Empirisch orientierte Konjunkturexperten ziehen zur Früherkennung von konjunkturellen Wendepunkten gern die Dreimal-Regel heran. Diese Regel ermöglicht die Übersetzung der Bewegungsrichtung eines Konjunkturindikators in ein Wendepunktsignal. Für die Prognose von Wendepunkten können aber auch Markov-Switching-Modelle wichtige Informationen liefern. Der vorliegende Beitrag vergleicht die Güte beider Ansätze für die Wendepunktprognose der Industriekonjunktur in Deutschland, wobei als Indikator das ifo Geschäftsklima im Verarbeitenden Gewerbe dient.
