Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Commitment of Universitas Terbuka’s Lecturer towards Cyber University
This article explores the relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment of the first and biggest open and distance learning institution in Indonesia, called Universitas Terbuka. In this disruptive and uncertainty era, Universitas Terbuka has the vision to become the Centre of an Indonesian Cyber University so that this research is intended as an activity for mapping latent conditions within organization, as an effort to recognize Universitas Terbuka's internal conditions before executing the transformation process. By involving 160 lecturers from the UT Head Office and supporting offices namely UPBJJ which are spread throughout Indonesia, the findings indicate that Universitas Terbuka’s lecturers have high organizational commitment and have a high level of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence conditions are closely related to the high commitment of UT lecturers, therefore, the level of emotional intelligence needs to be managed properly to maintain the level commitment of lecturers to remain stable so that this will be great and positive organizational capability for Universitas Terbuka to move forwards achieving the vision. The discussion and implications of these findings will be discussed further
