Information Technology as a Strategic Enabler for the Effective Management of Business to Business Organizations

This paper presents the results of a bibliographic research about the role of IT as a modifier of the competitive advantage's nature, assuming IT a source of creative destruction. Specifically, it searches for the key factors needed to be addressed on the IT strategy of established B2B organizations. The paper offers two propositions: 1) IT, more for its role as a network enabler, and less for the information intensity it provides, transforms the game in the competitive arena; 2) a superior strategy can be achieved by using an integrative framework, which captures the industry dynamics, while considering the firm's specific aspects
