Perception of University of Ilorin Undergraduate Students Towards Online Shopping
Online shopping has evolved in the recent time in Nigeria with the growth of internet and social media especially among students of tertiary institution who are considered technological-native. The research is therefore, on the thrust to examine the perception of University of Ilorin undergraduate students’ towards online shopping with the few to know the motivating factors alongside challenges. Survey research method was adopted and the sample size was 400 respondents while questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents. Multistage sampling approach was adopted to pick respondents across the colleges. The data were analysed using frequency and percentage method. Also, the data were subjected to chi-square test. Findings show that majority of the respondents have shopped online directly and indirectly, although, lack of trust, absent of physical interaction and fair of being deceived and duped have been identified as some of the challenges facing online shopping among students. It was recommended that online payment for products and services such as money perfect, credit card, debit card, online signed cheque and other should be more protected while many easier payment options should be designed to make online payment easier, effective and fraudulent free
