Structura coroanei arborilor de nuc negru (Juglans nigra L.) în stadiul de dezvoltare prăjiniș
The paper presents the results of a research work carried out in a black walnut sapling stand, managed by the Iuliu Moldovan Forest District (Arad County Branch, State Forest Administration — Romsilva). The research work aimed at characterising the main structural descriptors of the crown: diameter, length, angle and area of insertion of 1st grade branches to the trunk, all of them being decisive to the crown size and form. All these data were collected from 7 trees extracted during the last cleaning-respacing intervention performed in 2003. Based on these data, trees considered both individually or grouped into one single category were characterised by statistical indicators, with some interesting conclusions as follows: — the angle of insertion of 1st grade branches is ±constant (r = 17 %) and it does not depend on the growth conditions ; — the area of insertion of 1st grade branches is the most variable (r = 122 %). The distributions of branch characteristics, as well as some correlation dependencies between them (e.g., branch length-diameter of branch, area of branch insertion-branch diameter, area of branch insertion-branch length, all of them with r = 0.83-0.94∗∗∗ ) and regression equations were also defined.
