The Poultry Farm (TPF) : Veterinarian Turned into Entrepreneur
This case illustrates a common place in Colombian Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) where senior management is often executed from a very informal basis, thus revealing a lack of strategic planning throughout the entire company operation as well as a high degree of informality in the management of its resources. Such is the case of this case’s poultry farm. The company is managed by its owner, a veterinarian without any proper training or studies in business administration, but who, despite this apparent shortcoming, has a firm intention to protect his company from the competition brought by an environment of globalized businesses and rapid change
