Untersuchung kultureller Aspekte bei virtueller Teamarbeit
Die Anzahl der weltweit in verschiedenen Kulturkreisen operierenden Unternehmen steigt sowohl durch Internationalisierung, als auch durch technische Entwicklungen. Durch die immer moderneren Informations- und Kommunikations-Technologien steigt auch das Interesse an virtueller Zusammenarbeit stetig. Durch die Möglichkeiten von virtueller Arbeit können Unternehmen mit geringeren Kosten interne und externe Spezialisten zusammenzubringen.
Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden die kulturellen Aspekte bei virtueller Teamarbeit untersucht. Dabei wurde gezeigt, dass bei multikultureller virtueller Teamarbeit nicht nur fachliche Kompetenz der Mitarbeiter eine Bedeutung hat. Eine ebenso große Rolle bezüglich Erfolg oder Misserfolg eines Projekts spielt die Art und Weise, wie Teammitglieder, die aus unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen stammen, zusammenarbeiten.
An diese Aufgabenstellung wurde mit Hilfe des fünfdimensionalen kulturellen Konzepts von Geert Hofstede sowohl theoretisch, als auch praktisch, herangegangen. Dabei wurde die Bedeutung der fünf Dimensionen – Machtdistanz (Power Distance, PDI), Unsicherheitsvermeidung (Uncertainty Avoidance, UAI), Individualismus (Individualism/Collectivism, IDV), Maskulinität (Masculinity/Femininity, MAS) und langfristige Orientierung (Long Term/Short Term Orientation, LTO) – erläutert. Danach wurden mit Hilfe einer empirischen Untersuchung die Kulturunterschiede zwischen unterschiedlichen Ländern bzw. Regionen untersucht und die erzielten Ergebnisse mit den Resultaten von Hofstede verglichen. Weiteres wurde analysiert, wie die Auswirkungen der festgestellten kulturellen Unterschiede auf die Aufgabenverteilung und Arbeitsweise von Teammitgliedern sind und worauf beim Aufbau von virtuellen Teams besonders Acht gegeben werden sollte.
Anschließend wurden einige Kritiken am Modell von Hofstede ausdiskutiert.
