The Impact of Human Resource Development Practices on the Job Performance of Bank Melli Iran Employees With the Mediating Role of Employee Competencies

This study aims to examine the impact of human resource development (HRD) practices on the job performance of Bank Melli Iran (BMI) employees, considering the mediating role of employee competencies. This study is applied research and is descriptive survey research methodologically. The study population consisted of BMI employees in the western branches of Tehran, from which 294 employees were selected using a multi-stage cluster sampling method. Questionnaires were then distributed among ten executives and experts. The discriminant content validity was determined based on ten evaluators' views. The questionnaire content validity was confirmed by reviewing relevant books and articles, preparing the necessary information items, and applying corrective views. The SPSS and PLS software were used for data analysis. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was also used to assess the questionnaire reliability. Thus, twenty questionnaires were first distributed among the statistical sample, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated using SPSS 25 software. The results showed that all research hypotheses were supported. Therefore, (1) HRD practices positively and significantly affected job performance mediated by BMI employees' competencies; (2) career development positively and significantly affected job performance mediated by BMI employees' competencies; (3) training and development positively and significantly affected job performance mediated by BMI employees' competencies; (4) performance appraisal had a positive and significant influence on job performance mediated by BMI employees' competencies, and (5) compensation had a positive and significant influence on job performance mediated by BMI employees' competencies
